Randy Speck has spent his entire life in Christian education. Growing up in Nashville, TN, Randy attended Ezell-Harding Christian School, then moved to Michigan to attend Rochester College. After two years at RC, he finished his undergraduate degree at Lipscomb University with a major in Biology. After teaching Biology, coaching basketball, volleyball and track, he and his wife Kim (OCS, '91) moved back to Michigan in 1999 where he began working at Oakland Christian School as the Director of Community Relations. After serving three years in the role of raising money and awareness for OCS, he was appointed Superintendent of Oakland Christian School in 2002.
For Randy, serving in leadership at OCS is one of the great honors of his life. From early on in his career, there was a desire to be at a place where the school board, administrators, faculty, staff, parents and students would work together to create a Christian school that would be a model of an effective organization. At Oakland Christian School, Randy has found such as place. "There is a focus at OCS to not only talk about excellence," says Speck, "but to actually practice it. That doesn't mean we will be perfect, but it does mean we will work as hard as we can to provide our students and families with highest quality of Christian education in an environment that is authentic and real."
Randy has a M.Ed in Educational Administration from Lipscomb University and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Capella University with an emphasis in Training and Performance Improvement. Randy has experience in organizational development, strategic planning and execution and the design and implementation of employee training programs. In 2007, the OCS University was created to train school employees on the school's vision for growth over the next decade.
Randy is married to the former Kim Pleasant and they have two children, Palmer (age 5) and Lainey Hope (6 months). To contact Randy, email him at rspeck@oaklandchristian.com.
