OCS Official Michigan Green School

Oakland Christian School, in partnership with its Eco Club, has achieved the highest level of Michigan Green School status: Evergreen. To obtain a Green School designation, schools must be actively involved in projects that seek to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. 


Oakland Christian Welcomes New Head of School

The Oakland Christian School Board of Education has announced the appointment of Mr. Pat McCarty as its new Head of School, effective June 1, 2018. Mr. McCarty joins Oakland Christian School in the next chapter of his highly successful career in public service, business, and education — both as a teacher and administrator.

OCS Alumnus named to Oakland County 2017 Elite 40 under 40 Class
Dustin McClellan (’08), has been named to the Oakland County Executive’s 2017 Elite 40 under 40 Class.  From nearly 400 applications and nominations, a panel of judges selected the top 40 young professionals and thought leaders who live or work in Oakland County.  The honorees have achieved excellence in their field and contributed to the quality of life in their communities.


Oakland Christian Finishes State Runner-Up
The Lady Lancers finish as the state runner-up in what's been the best season in OCS Volleyball history. Thank you fans. Thank you seniors. Thank you coaches. Thank you Mrs. Larned. 


2016 Heritage Brunch Honorees
Our annual Heritage Brunch is an opportunity to celebrate the history and legacy of Oakland Christian School and to honor those who have so generously given of themselves to make the school what it is today.  This year, as we celebrate almost 50 years of Christian education we are pleased to honor Mr. Ed Mehlberg and Mrs. Priscilla Larned.  


Oakland Christian Receives Education Advocate Award

Oakland Christian School was one of 19 award winners announced at the 5th annual Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce Silver & Gold Awards Brunch.  OCS received the Baker College Education Advocate Silver Award in recognition of the “organization who best embraces and promotes education, training and development.”


Oakland Christian School’s Dennis Hopkins Named Regional Athletic Director of the Year
Michigan’s professional organization of school athletic directors, the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA), has selected Dennis Hopkins of Oakland Christian School as regional Athletic Director of the Year.
Talented trio from Oakland Christian have college football plans

Three Oakland Christian Seniors will continue their gridiron careers in college. Quarterback Josh Siminski and linebacker Reece McConnell both signed with Concordia University, and wide receiver Seth Williams signed with Faulkner University in Alabama.

Tickets are now on sale for the 3rd annual Middle School Musical, "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." The Lancer Theatre will come to life with lighting, staging, sets, curtains, and 35 actors who will enchant audiences with their rendition of this timeless and popular tale. This high quality production will not disappoint, and is appropriate for audiences of all ages!


New Robotics Program Wins First Place!
This fall, Oakland Christian School introduced our first after school robotics program, led by our Secondary STEM teacher, Mr. Greg Favaro. With over 20 students in grades 7-12 involved in this program, OCS now has five robotics teams.


Key of Hope to Perform at the All School Christmas Chapel

Each year, Oakland Christian School has a special chapel with the entire OCS community to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season. This year there will be a special musical guest performance from the Key of Hope Children’s Choir, coming all the way from South Africa!


Oakland Christian School’s Ed Mehlberg Inducted into the MHSCA Hall of Fame
Coach Mehlberg was recognized for his 44-year career, 900+ basketball victories, and 90 seasons of varsity coaching as he was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

OCS Ribbon Cutting with Three Area Chambers
OCS recently participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lake Orion, Auburn Hills and Oxford Chambers of Commerce.  We are excited to introduce several new academic programs for students in these communities and we value our partnership with these organizations.

OCS Freshman receives honorable mention at Southeastern Michigan Region of the Scholastic Art Awards
He's still in high school, but Jackson Dupree already has a piece of his artwork on display at the prestigious College for Creative Studies (CCS) in downtown Detroit.


Elementary Spanish Immersion Program

OCS is proud to offer one of the first Elementary Spanish Immersion programs in our area.  This program develops students to become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural by grade 5.

Lancers Advance to District Championship!
The Oakland Christian Lancers football team advanced to the District Championship with a dominating 34-6 victory over league rival Parkway Christian on Friday night at Fraser High School.


Oakland Christian School Students Collecting Socks for Hurricane Harvey Victims
The city of Vidor, Texas is devastated by flooding from Hurricane Harvey.  All schools in this community, except for one, are flooded and in need of assistance.  The OCS community is supporting the children of one of these elementary schools by providing new socks in a variety of children's sizes.

OCS Teacher and Alumnus Launch their first book!
Author Julie Prantera and Illustrator Kevin Finkbeiner are launching their first book at an Open House in the OCS Elementary Lobby on Saturday, January 21 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.


Coach Larned ends three-decade tenure with first title appearance
On the south end of the Auburn Hills Oakland Christian gymnasium, dozens of framed pictures line the wall. Represented is every Michigan Independent Athletic Conference championship captured in school history, regardless of sport. Mrs. Larned can be found in 13 plaques, each time smiling with a different roster of proud volleyball players.    


OCS joins with PCKC for Operation T.U.R.K.E.Y.
Meet Makenzie and Makayla.  These two young ladies began attending The Power Company Kids Club (PCKC) in 3rd and 4th grade respectively.


OCS grad receives MSU 2016 Construction Management Student of the Year Award
Madison Hoxsie (2011), recently received the Michigan State University 2016 Construction Managment Student of the Year Award. To be eligible, students must have achieved the highest level of academic accomplishment, demonstrate leadership and hold high standards of integrity. 


Smither Siblings Honored
The Oakland Christian School Wall of Faith recognizes alumni who have dedicated their lives to Christian ministry and have been involved in full-time ministry for at least ten years.  At our annual LifeBuilders Celebration we had the privilege of recognizing all of the Smither siblings with this honor.
