Student Support Services

Oakland Christian School Student Support Services provides resources for student growth and encourages the God-given gifts and talents of all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.  The Student Support Services staff is professionally trained to offer students and their families assistance in the areas of personal/group counseling, college and career readiness, standardized testing, academic intervention, and registrar duties.

College and career readiness is provided for all students in grades 7-12 through group settings as well as on an individual basis.  We provide resources for the entire college and career readiness process via NACAC, ASCA, and FAFSA standards.   KUDER Navigator is also utilized to create Individualized Education Plans, individual interest assessments, exploration of college opportunities, and resume creation.

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions by our prospective families:

What standardized testing does OCS offer?

Standardized testing at Oakland Christian School includes NWEA, PreACT, ACT, PSAT, SAT and AP assessments. The data from these assessments is used to support student growth, aid in middle and high school course placement and registration, and provide information to evaluate the necessity for individual academic intervention.

Does OCS offer advanced classes?

OCS offers 28 Advanced Placement (AP) courses (17 live instruction and 11 online) and 6 Honors Courses. OCS also offers the AP Capstone™ diploma program―an innovative program that allows students to develop skills that matter most for college success, such as research, collaboration, and communication.

Does OCS offer dual-enrollment?

Yes. The Michigan Department of Education supports non-public school students participation in dual-enrollment. Dual enrollment is a great way for our students to advance in their studies while maintaining their high school status.

What support does OCS offer students with an IEP, 504, Service Plan, or BIPS/FBAs?

OCS has many avenues to support our students. We offer a wide range of ancillary services through our district provider to support students with diagnosed learning disabilities. We also offer support for students with Other Health Impairments (OHIs) and offer help when students just need minor adjustments to their academic programming.

Are tutoring services offered at OCS?

OCS provides families with several options. We offer peer-to-peer tutoring, professional tutoring, and standardized test resources.
