All-School News and Events

  • During this holiday season, your family has an opportunity to express their gratitude for staff through a contribution toward the Worthy Servants Christmas Gift Fund. Proceeds contributed to this Fund will be divided and distributed as a Christmas Bonus for every teacher, staff member, and administrator.

    All gifts are to be received no later than December 8, 2022, to ensure timely delivery of bonuses before the Christmas holiday.

  • All-School Christmas Chapel

    Join the entire OCS community on Friday, December 9 at 2 pm for our All-School Christmas Chapel featuring the Key of Hope Choir! To further celebrate, students will receive a free Sweans Day and are invited to wear an “Ugly Christmas Sweater” or festive shirt with their jeans/sweats on this special day. 

    UPDATE: Please plan on attending this All-School Chapel on Friday, December 9 at 2 pm in lieu of any other chapels the week of December 5. There will be no other chapels for Elementary, Middle or High School this week. 

  • Key of Hope Choir

    On December 9th the Key of Hope Choir will be performing for OCS students during our all-school Christmas chapel. Key of Hope is an international non-profit in Durban, South Africa that reaches children affected by poverty and AIDS with the hope found in Jesus Christ through long-term mentoring relationships. Each year, the Key of Hope Choir embarks on a 6-week concert tour in the United States.

    The tour enables Key of Hope to enlarge its reach in new areas, spreading the word about the incredible work of changed lives. If you would like to help support the choir during their travels you can sign up to provide meals and clothing through the links below. We are looking forward to experiencing their incredible God-given talent!

  • Alumni Night 2022

    Come out and join the OCS athletic community on December 16 at 5:30 pm as we celebrate our Wall of Fame inductees and cheer on the boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams!

    5:30 pm - Girls' Varsity Basketball Game 
    Approximately 6:30 pm - Wall of Fame Ceremony
    Approximately 7 pm - Boys' Varsity Basketball Game

    Joshua Benore is being inducted for receiving 1st Team All-State honors in Track, and Jack Legree for receiving 1st Team All-State honors in Baseball.

  • The PTF will be hosting a breakfast for our wonderful OCS Teachers and Staff. Please help us make this event fantastic by donating some of the items we need. Items can be delivered to the elementary lobby by Tuesday Morning, December 13. Remember to count every $20 spent as a family service hour! Sign up HERE

  • Poinsettia Orders

    Poinsettia orders will be dropped off at the school this Tuesday, December 6, and will be ready for pick up between.12:30 - 2 pm. Thank you for your purchase! 

  • FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (FGAA) is a need-based assessment service designed to help identify the financial needs of our families. FACTS provides Oakland Christian with a need-based financial aid analysis service which ensures that our process for establishing financial need adheres to nationally established standards of best practice.

    Grants will be awarded according to a family's qualifying need and are limited to funds available in Oakland Christian’s tuition assistance program. Current OCS families should complete grant applications by March 1, 2023. Grant applications will be processed and award notifications will be sent once the 2023-2024 tuition rates are published. As a reminder, current families must reapply for financial assistance each year. Apply HERE

     

     

     

  • Early Enrollment season for new applicants is November 1 - February 12. Once we receive completed applications from new families, we will be offering enrollment where we have space available based on our current capacity. Where we do not have current seats available, applicants will be placed in a wait pool.

    IMPORTANT: Current Families who wish to enroll additional students should apply during this time. The first decision date during this early enrollment period is December 1. A completed application along with completed admissions testing is required for a December 1 decision. For the best chance of securing a seat, please make sure your application and testing are completed before December 1.

Elementary News and Events

  • Christmas Sweans Days

    Bring the Christmas cheer each Friday in December by wearing Christmas shirts on Friday Sweans Days. Elementary students can wear any Christmas shirt/sweater instead of OCS spirit wear on Friday, Dec. 2nd, 9th & 16th—elementary students can participate in wearing an “Ugly” Christmas Sweater with Secondary students on the 9th for our All School Chapel at 2 pm. Students must continue to comply with the Sweans Day pants policy—jeans or sweatpants without any holes, words, or embellishments. 

  • Christmas Gift Shop

    Our Parent Teacher Fellowship is excited to be hosting our Christmas Gift Shop again this year where elementary students can shop for their families on December 7,8, and 9. A preview day will be available and students will bring home an envelope with a shopping list on the front in which to include cash or a check. You may also prepay online at https://www.paythankyou.com/organization/831912. There will be gifts for every person and pet ranging in price from $1 to $10. This yearly event raises money for the Parent Teacher Fellowship's support services, teacher and staff care, and student activities.

  • JK, K, & 1st Grades

    Monday, December 12th at 3:45 pm, JK, K, and 1st Grade students will assemble in the Multipurpose Gym for this year's Christmas program! Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's production was not able to be produced by our music department, but we hope you'll be blessed with a reading of the Nativity Story, sweet singing, and the celebration of the birth of our Savior all orchestrated by Jk-1st grade teachers, staff, and parents. Please dress your children in their Christmas dress clothes for school this day or plan to have them change into them prior to 3:45 pm.

  • Spanish Immersion

    Monday, December 12th at 5:15 pm, all Spanish Immersion students will assemble in their classrooms for this year's Christmas program! Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's production was not able to be produced by our music department, but we hope you'll be blessed with a reading of the Nativity Story, sweet singing, and the celebration of the birth of our Savior all orchestrated by Spanish Immersion teachers, staff, and parents. Please dress your children in their Christmas dress clothes for this special performance!

  • 2nd & 3rd Grade

    Thursday, December 15th, 2nd, and 3rd-grade students will remain in their classrooms after school until 3:45 pm for their 4 pm performance in the Multipurpose Gym. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's production was not able to be produced by our music department, but we hope you'll be blessed with a reading of the Christmas Story, sweet singing, and the celebration of the birth of our Savior all orchestrated by 2nd-3rd grade teachers, staff, and parents. Please dress your children in their Christmas pajamas for school on this day!

  • 4th and 5th Grade

    Thursday, December 15th at 5:15 pm, all 4th and 5th-grade students will assemble in their classrooms for this year's Christmas program. The program will begin at 5:30 pm in the Multipurpose Gym. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's production was not able to be produced by our music department, but we hope you'll be blessed with a reading of the Christmas Story, sweet singing, and the celebration of the birth of our Savior all orchestrated by 4th-5th grade teachers, staff, and parents. Please dress your children in their "Christmas Best" for this special performance!

  • The deadline to register for 3rd-5th grade boys' basketball and 3rd and 4th-grade girls' basketball is December 12. There will be no registrations accepted after this deadline. Click HERE to register now! 

     

  • Some changes have been made to our Elementary handbook. Please note changes in the following sections of the handbook:

  • Read more about our Spiritual Theme of the year, “Dwell Richly”. 

    We will not have Elementary chapel on Thursday, Dec. 8th. Parents are welcome to come to our All School chapel on Friday, Dec. 9th. The vocal group Key Of Hope will be performing for our Christmas chapel. Parents are invited to attend. Friday's chapel will be located in the high school gym. 
     

  • Illness

    During this season we have had many illnesses impact our students and staff. Although we are washing our hands often and cleaning our classroom we are having a hard time controlling the spread of illnesses because students are coming to school ill. Please review our handbook policy regarding illness HERE. If your child is not feeling well the night before school or the morning of school, please do not give them medicine and send them to school. Please help us curb the illnesses being passed around by letting your children rest and recuperate if they are not feeling well so they are healthy and ready to participate in class. Thank you for your attention and cooperation in this matter!

     

Middle School News and Events

  • Exams will take place on Tues, Dec. 13, Wed., Dec. 14, Thurs., Dec. 15, and Fri. Dec.16. All exam days are half days of school and your student(s) is expected to attend both 90 min. exam class periods. Each exam school day begins at 7:45 am and ends with an 11:15 am dismissal time. There is no homeroom on exam days. Students should arrive in time to begin exams promptly at 7:45. Please carefully review the exam schedule with your student(s) HERE
