Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great opportunity for families and teachers to connect and work together in support of each student. We look forward to welcoming families for conferences on Thursday, October 1, and Monday, October 5.
Elementary: Conferences are by appointment. Please see your child’s classroom newsletter for sign-up information.
Secondary: Conferences are first come, first served. Meetings are designed to be brief, approximately five minutes with each teacher. If you need more time, please reach out to the teacher to schedule an appointment for a later date. Teachers will be available until 7:00 p.m. each evening.

Fall Concert
The OCS community is invited to join us for our first concert of the 2026–27 school year on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Gym. Our middle and high school band, choir, and orchestra students have been preparing and are excited to share an evening of music.
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. We encourage families to stay for the entire concert and support our student musicians!
You are welcome to bring cushions for the bleachers.

Jeans for the WAVE Project
OCS 4th graders are collecting jeans for men in sizes 30–44 to deliver to the WAVE Project, supporting individuals in the Metro Detroit area. If you have any to donate, please drop them in the box in the lobby by October 12.

No School October 15–16
There will be no school on Thursday, October 15, and Friday, October 16, for Teacher In-Service Days. Make the most of the day off on Thursday by heading to Dave & Buster’s in Utica from 11 AM–3 PM! 20% of participating purchases will be donated back to Oakland Christian School. It’s a fun way to enjoy the day off while supporting OCS!

Dave & Buster's Donation Day
No school on Thursday, October 15! Join us at Dave & Buster’s in Utica from 11 AM–3 PM for a fundraiser benefiting Oakland Christian! Dave & Buster's will donate 20% of all food, soft drinks, and game play!

Oakland Christian is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, October 20. If you’re able to give, we’d love for you to join us!
To find the drive and schedule an appointment, search OCS and select the October 20 date.

Thursday, October 22 will be an early release day and there will be no school on Friday, October 23. Enjoy the long weekend!

Elementary students and families are invited to attend the Harvest Fest on Monday, October 12 between 5:30-7:30 PM. Children can dress up in kid-friendly, God-honoring costumes and will get candy at our trunk-or-treat, get their face painted, paint a pumpkin, and more. We are looking for parent/ grandparent volunteers or middle/high school volunteers. All donated items and volunteers earn family service hours for you!

Elementary Grandparents' Day Chapel
Elementary Grandparents are invited to the Elementary Grandparents' Day Chapel on Wednesday, October 28 from 8:15–9:00 AM in the Main Gym.
Stop by your grandchild's classroom after the event for a photo opportunity.
This event will commemorate our country's 250th anniversary as well as honor our grandparents. A special friend or parent can take the place of grandparents.
Middle School News and Events

Opportunities include:- Decorate car trunks. Trunks should be kid-friendly.
- The PTF is also asking for bulk nut-free candy donations and individual bags of chips.
- Face painters
- Pumpkin painting supervision
- Concessions helpers
All donations can be dropped off by Friday, October 9. Please bring all donations to the Elementary office. Please find a place where you can help serve. All donations and volunteering hours will earn family service hours.

Ongoing Opportunities

We have a record number of Lancer athletes competing this fall, and we’re excited to cheer them on all season long!
To help each home event run smoothly, families are asked to serve two game-day volunteer shifts for each child participating in a fall sport. Many volunteer spots are still available, so please sign up for your preferred dates and times today.
Beginning Friday, September 4, the Athletic Department will assign families to any remaining open shifts. As outlined in the Athletic Handbook, families who miss an assigned shift will be charged a fee per hour missed.

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Oakland Christian School is using ParentSquare as its official communication platform for school families. ParentSquare brings school and classroom communication together in one place, making it easier to stay informed and connected.
Parents have been invited to join ParentSquare. If you have not yet accepted your invitation, please take a moment to do so and make sure your notification preferences are set to your liking. Parents can receive communications by email or through their preferred notification settings, and all school communications can also be accessed through the ParentSquare app or website.

If you’ve had a good experience at Oakland Christian, we’d love for you to share a little about it. Your perspective can give prospective families a better feel for our school and what it’s like to be part of the OCS community.

Clothes Bin Donations
Support our school and the environment by donating to the green Clothes Bin®, located in the circle lot on the north end of campus!
Recycling textiles keeps millions of pounds of clothing and household items out of landfills, conserves resources, and reduces pollution. You can drop off clothing (any condition), shoes, and household textiles like blankets, towels, and sheets.
Every contribution supports NHS, NJHS, and Student Council!

As we continue to enhance and beautify our campus, we are excited to offer the opportunity to sponsor a tree on our school grounds through the OCS Commemorative Tree Campaign. This is a meaningful way for individuals, families, and organizations to honor someone special, remember a loved one, express gratitude, or celebrate a milestone.
All honorees will be recognized on a commemorative plaque displayed on campus, creating a lasting tribute within our community.
