GET CONNECTED WITH A MENTOR FAMILY
We would love for you to feel connected and have an experienced OCS family come alongside you to help you navigate your first year at our school. If you would like to be connected with a Mentor Family, please complete and submit THIS FORM and you will hear from someone before the start of the school year.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Elementary Students - Most school supplies are provided. Your child's teacher will provide you with a short list of required items. The list will include things like a backpack, water bottle, extra pair of tennis shoes for gym class, art shirt, and a set of child's headphones.
Secondary Students - (6th - 12th grade) - We don't publish a specific school supply list for our secondary students. We've found that this saves parents money and reduces the stress that can accompany school supply shopping! Your student may get a few items that they like to stay organized - folders, notebooks, etc. If there is anything that a particular teacher requires, it will be in the syllabus provided on the first day of school.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
The Alpha and Omega Center is available for students in JK - 8th grade. More information about the program, as well as a link to the child information record form, can be found HERE.
FAMILY SERVICE HOURS
Since parental involvement and support of Oakland Christian is a very important aspect of our school. Each family at OCS is required to participate in the Family Service Hour Program. Families in JK – 12th grade must complete 20 family service hours per school year. For each school year, the service hour program begins on May 1 and ends on April 30. A $20 fee will be charged for every hour not completed. Learn more HERE.
PARENT/ADULT VOLUNTEER SCREENING
All adults (18+) must go through background checks before serving OCS students as a volunteer. Background checks are through the state of Michigan ICHAT and Central Registry systems. Forms are available on the school website and in the office. A three-week lead time is required to complete the clearance system. Background checks are valid for two years. Click HERE to access the forms.
ALLERGIES/MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Disclosure of medical conditions and allergies is a part of your student’s enrollment form. If a new condition or allergy arises, please inform our school nurse. Certain allergies and conditions require a Care Plan. These forms can be found HERE. All medication and proper medical forms must be kept available and on file at the school.
